We laminated the first section of hull outside.
I checked the boat of what has done last wednesday afternoon. Coved on the chine, filled all gaps, put the chain plate into the situ, rebated the laps of EDB.
That edge around the tube will be coved one more time after chopping that bit off to make the tube flush to the nose cone. We are going to laminate the very forward part at 3rd which is the last and it could be next monday.
Tha forward gaps between those plankings are filled up.
I think Chris put this tape to make sure to hold that chain plate there. We rebated 75mm wider part around that chain plate for 1. reinforcing, 2. dispating shock waves and load.
That is the lap being rebated.
A bit of lumps and hollows at the edge of centre case is filled up as well.
This is the resin that we used today as a sealer coat.
This is the hardener. The mixing ratio is 1:1.
Moving the boat into this room, we closed the big door of the FRP bay and did jobs. We turned the heater on but it didn't work at first.
We coated a bit on the bottom of the hull at the bow. We poured almost 3 L of sealer coat on the hull totally.
We put a piece of peel ply to prevent vac tape stucking on the foam and the planking. The sealer coat worked on the timber but I don't really think that it worked on the foam, we have got almost a full bar in the end anyway though. Sealer coat is supposed to be used on special surface like timber. Chris doesn't like the slurry spreading on the glass as well.
Jun is putting sealer coat.
Lance got in the cabin top to do some jobs such as sanding the cove and tape on it, so that vacume hose was needed to let in. He found that the cove wasn't quite good enough, which I agree with, so probably need to cove one more time.
Tapu is filling the gap between hull ant deck, laying on the floor.
We need to block that centre case plug made of 3 pieces of MDF somehow because it has not been laminated or sealed with each other. We put some bleeder on top of it to protect the bag from the sharp edge, putting vac tape around the bottom of it and covering the vacume bag.
I think we used this powder when we filled the gap.
A small piece of EDB went onto there. Make sure that piece isn't bigger than the rebate. We actually had to cover that on the deck by75mm but the laminate on the deck is done and we can't rebate on the laminated surface. We leave the whole layer of laminating as possible as we can.
Started.
On going.
A nice looking dinghy! I like the pads on the bottom.
We blocked the stanchion like this with peelply and bleeder covered on it.
Vacuum bag is hardly ever big enough. I cut that 1m longer and wider but it just fitted.
We have almost got a full bar eventually.
