Planing and sanding

It was Queen's birthday yesterday. We did sanding and planing today.

Chris told us to think about what we are going to do today, especially about the chain plate. It has long edge above as a trapezoid and goes into where we dig the foam out by its shape. We have to sand down by the thickness of one layer of fibreglass, where is going to be 75mm bigger surface of the plate. We are going to laminate on the whole surface of hull afterwards.

Put the longboard as pararel to longitudinal direction as we can and sand it roundly.

This is a list to do. Chris emphasized we have to do sealer coat before laminating, especially the end grain on the transom. The last stage goes a bit lazier than I thought. We will vacume next monday.

Lance brought a plug for mould for his remote controlling trimaran model, which is made of epoxy and MDF.

Planing and Sanding.

Looking back, Chris told that he would have put extra frame to get the strip plank tip been pushed down forward side. It is not quite enough to twist them by the frames we had.

Taken from upstairs, it appears a bit wider than I supposed.

We have to be aware of not doing planing and sanding at the same time. The main reason of blunting the plane blade is not epoxy or wood but the sand from longboard. Planing is much quicker, cleaner and easier.

Chris told that part is going to be capped later on. We have to make chine round only after we get the fair shape or line.

Lance is doing his job at smoko.

Someone drew a portrait of Chris on the protector of the grinder. It must have been Ogi!!

We took the measurement and location from AutoCAD and transfered by using centre line, right angled line and plum-bob. Andrew made that pattern as well.

We need sanding.
